Science Fair

The school science fair is coming up.  I am giving you an advanced notice because I know that this is a project that can take a while to complete.

This year's science fair theme is "Saving the Earth".

Each child will have to make a poster that will present their ideas of how we could save the earth.

Researched information should be displayed on each poster.  All worded information should be handwritten by your child.

Each poster should include at least one picture or drawing as well.

Detailed instructions have been sent home in your child's binder.

Have fun with this, and be creative!

Donated Books

As your children know, Ms. Wilbanks loves to read, so I am very excited to announce that our school was very lucky to have hundreds of wonderful children's books donated to be given to our students.

Our school librarians are sorting through the books now to determine how many books each child will be able to take home.

On Monday, September 7, we will go to the library as a class and each child will be able to pick at least one book out to take home.

Your children will NOT have to return these books.  Each child will get to keep the books that they bring home.  They are welcome to bring them to class to read during reading time, but they do not have to.

I am very excited about this, and I hope that you and your child are too.

First Day of School!

3rd grade is a very exciting year.  We have a year full of learning new things, meeting new friends, and growing in so many ways coming up.

Our first day of school was wonderful.  Every single student in our classroom impressed me with their kindness and respect towards me and their classmates.  I can already tell that we have a class full of smart, fun, independent children.

Today we started building our classroom community by introducing ourselves to one another and sharing fun facts about ourselves to the class.  We had a fun writing activity where everyone wrote all about their favorite things about summer.

We were assigned textbooks for every subject today.  Our textbooks will stay in the classroom unless they need to be taken home for homework.

We had a very nice day together getting settled into our new classroom and meeting each other.

I look forward to a wonderful year with all of my new students.
